The Ministry of Presence Workshop

Over the last several years, our society has experienced a war of words that fractured families, communities, and the nation. Some families skip getting together because they have no way to talk to each other. Some communities have become so polarized that neighbors no longer attend a community event at the same time. Our political discourse is no longer civil and, at times, has turned violent.
At the same time, we live in an ever-changing world. For example, I never imagined that wind turbines would come to my county. However, they are now up and running. I also never imagined that wind turbines would be a hot political issue that would break up lifelong friendships.
Today, our society desperately needs God’s love, forgiveness, and hope. Just as Jesus came and shared love and hope, we as disciples need to be the eyes, hands, and voice of Jesus to our families, communities, and nation. Today more than ever, we need to have “A Ministry of Presence” in our community. Just as Jesus was present with people of all ages, we need to be present with people in our day.
Many of us wonder how we develop “A Ministry of Presence” and how we cultivate relationships when our society seems to be so divided. The Academy for Small Membership Church Ministries is offering a workshop to help church members and pastors build relationships, learn how to have hard conversations with people holding different perspectives, and discover ways to be present with people through difficult and changing times.
“The Ministry of Presence: Cultivating Relationships in an Ever-Changing World” workshop will be held via Zoom on February 26, 2022, 9:00-11:30 am CST. The cost is $10 per person. It will be led by internationally-known professional coach and trainer George Howard. Registration is open.
I hope you will take advantage of “The Ministry of Presence” workshop, which will help you and your church develop a lasting presence in your community.
